On Tuesday morning, mama noticed a previously small number of bumps turn into a full blown reaction. The rash appeared to be centered near the surgery site below her right shoulder. It looked like goose-flesh or hives, several small bumps or pimples tightly positioned all over her skin.
We took some photos and I went to the website for the doctors office, but the contact form said it would take up to 3 days for a response, so instead I called their office and used an extension to get the surgeons office. After a short chat, they texted me using the offices cell number and I was able to text them the photos.

Their response was that it was a reaction to the sanitary wash they used on the surgical site. A somewhat common reaction to the wash and not too much to worry about unless she was experiencing a fever or chills. The medical staff advised mama to bathe to remove any residue from the sanitary wash and take a Benadryl for the symptoms. And in case the bumps became itchy and the Benadryl wasn’t effective, that we could also go to the office for a steroidal injection to address the symptoms.
Taking their advice, mama had a bath and we applied some Benadryl lotion to the affected area and she took an allergy pill as well. Some of the bumps had began bleeding from chaffing on the sling and padding, so we applied some healing ointment as well.
Meals for the day were mostly leftovers. I mixed the remain white rice with a piece of Minute Steak and the steamed vegetables, added soy sauce and sesame seed oil, and some salt, and that was my dinner. Mama had leftover lasagna for lunch and a sandwich for dinner.
