Growing up in Washington State, in Port Townsend, I was very close to the Canadian border, which was a ferry ride away from neighboring Port Angeles, or a day or a two away by sailboat.

Summers often included a sailing trip up through the San Juan Islands. Popular destinations included Orcas Island, Nanaimo, and Vancouver.

Smaller spots that we frequented include Lasqueti Island and Lund. Lund in particular was the final stop where my mother could drive to to pick me up before heading back home for school to restart. My father would then continue on and sail back to PT.
