On Monday morning, we had an initial visit to the BYoung Physical Therapy location in Wake Forest, NC. We had received a referral from OrthoNC for this business.
A Snag
There were some problems though with their billing system in regards to Medicare coverage. Only part of the service would accept the insurance while we would be responsible for paying 20% of the appointment fee $280 ($56).
Considering their awareness of mama’s financial situation, the hospital likely should have selected a referral location that would be able to process full coverage through Medicare. The surgery she received at the medical facility did not involve any billing to her personally.
Mama decided not to sign the paperwork, and after a short chat with the staff, we left. We stopped along the way at Walmart, where I checked the discount rack for some more bread. Unfortunately, all they had was cinnamon bread. We also checked Harris Teeter and got a couple more $2 salads and some $1 fruits.
The First Session
The next day, we received a phone call from the billing manager at the physical therapist office and they offered an apology and extended an offer to provide services for the first several sessions without cost.
On Tuesday morning we arrived at the PT office again and mama had her first appointment. She received a lot of good information and clarity on the inner workings of the surgery.
She received a set of various exercises she needs to perform and what to expect regarding physical discomfort and pain.
There are some parts of the shoulder and arm that were especially impacted by the surgery and could be expected to hurt throughout the recovery period and several areas connected to those areas through muscle would also hurt.
A Job
I had seen two offers show up on my ProxyPics dashboard in the morning as we left for the physical therapy appointment. I wanted to accept both tasks, but wasn’t sure how long the appointment would take and whether i would have enough time to drive to the jobsite.
After some time waiting in the car, I decided to bite the bullet and accept the jobs. Unfortunately, someone else had already taken one task. Each job is priced at $20 and usually includes 30-40 miles of driving. I took the remaining job, and after dropping mama off at home, I drove up to Kittrell. The actual location was outside the town limits and was technically in Henderson, but it was further south than South Henderson, right on the border.
I just had to take some pictures of a house. There were no trespassing signs on all of the houses I drove past, some even included the image of a shotgun on them. I made sure to only get out of the car after I had reached the house I was sent for. They also had a sign, so I did what I could from the roadway and reported the issue.
Notice of payment came in after I had completed my task and was driving home. I stopped and pulled over to take some pictures of a creek that intersected the rural roadway. The land on either side of the road was sloped. Two drainage pipes, large enough to stand up, I reckon, protruded from the opposite embankment. From one of the pipes I could see water pouring out. There was a short fall before the water hit this new body of water. I could see a few fish swimming in the creek, they were maybe the size of a pile perch, like you might spot down at the docks in Port Townsend.
