We arrived in the parking lot outside Wayback Burgers and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice at around 5:20 pm. The official parking area over at the high school opened up at 5:30 pm. From the opening all the way till the 9:30 pm fireworks display, the roadway was abustle with foot traffic entering the on campus fields.
Mama and myself went to Wayback Burgers to have our dinner. I ordered the Carolina and mama got the Classic burger. My burger was a bit wet from the chili and slaw, and my thumb went through the bottom of the bun. The food tasted great.
Sometime after the meal, I guess the manager noticed I had written a review on Google Maps, and he asked to speak with me and get some feedback on my experience.
It was a good follow up chat after the meal and I got answers to a couple questions I had about the restaurant.
After the meal, we sat in the car for a couple hours before heading over to Blackbird Brewery. Mama ordered the Habu, a rice lager. She said it tasted like Somaek (beer and soju mixed). I didn’t drink anything since I was the designated driver. Mama was happy, but I didn’t enjoy the shop. The music was too loud. My ears are still sensitive a day later.
The fireworks started at 9:30 pm to much applause and cheerful voices. This is the nations 250th anniversary, but I think the amount of people present was about the same as previous years. The show was certainly appealing, despite the 96 degree (F) heat. It had actually cooled a bit from earlier
After the show ended we visited Jeremiah’s Italian Ice and ordered two cups of the Strawberry Shortcake.
We didn’t get out of the parking lot until 10:40 pm and after that, it took around 45 minutes to drive home from Wake Forest to Youngsville.
