waiting area with several chairs and short tables, a pair of photos hand on the wall depicting the leaves of a Ginko tree, sunlight pours in from windows on either side of the hall.

WakeMed North ENT, NC

A couple of days ago, I drove my mother to her doctor visit with an audiologist at the Ear, Nose, and Throat office of WakeMed’s North campus. This will also be the location for her upcoming shoulder surgery.

The full mirrorless camera felt a bit intrusive to be carrying around a hospital, so I opted for the Osmo Pocket. There a bit too much sunshine out of doors and so most of my shots of the parking area and entrance to the facility were blown out, much so that I deleted them after a quick review.

On the first floor, there was a very helpful digital display showing all the floors and where everything was located. The ENT office was located on the third floor.

The waiting room for ENT featured a nice aquarium and comfortable seating. I perused the offering of magazines, most were local housing rags showing all the subdivisions and new developments. Many were located in Youngsville. I eventually tired of the light reading and decided to take a stroll down the halls.

Each section of hallway includes a large photograph of a plant. I saw wheat grass, aloe vera, succulents, and a couple of plants I couldn’t identify. At the end of the first hall on the third floor was the stairway access and a second elevator. There was a motion sensitive panel on the left wall near the door to the stairway, I waved my hand, but it opened the double doors to a nearby office. I got a funny look from the occupants.

The facility has 3 floors and a staircase leading up to a squat roof access door and various pipes.

After reaching the top of the stairs I doubled back and went down to the first floor. I saw the doors to Oncology and epidemiology? It was a long word, that might not be it. I got a bit lost after that and found myself near another elevator and a smaller waiting room.

I think I was actually on the second floor again because from a window I could see down to a parking lot on the right and a walkway on the left.

a hallway stretches out of view, various signage and implements adorn the walls

Anyways, I checked my phone for directions and saw I had missed a call. I had silenced my phone after we entered the hospital, as per the signage inside. This meant I had missed that my mother was done with her appointment and was waiting outside at my car.

I took the elevator down to the actual first floor and then dashed out to the parking lot. It was a particularly hot day and I felt bad for letting my mother stand around in the heat.
