Day 4 and 5: Bandage Removal and Leftovers

Day 4:

Breakfast on Friday was an egg and bacon breakfast biscuit for mama and a bowl of oatmeal for me.

We had a little phone tag with the hospital on Wednesday evening and eventually scheduled an visit to OrthoNC Express in Wake Forest to have the protective padding and gauze around the surgery site removed. It was held down with a giant adhesive bandage. We asked the medical worker to show us again how to properly remove the ice pack and adjust the straps on the sling.

I reheated yesterdays left over Spicy Korean Soup for lunch.

Mama had a nice phone call with her sister during the meal.

Day 5:

On Saturday evening, we had a Minute Steak that had been defrosted in the downstairs refrigerator. This was another of the 30+ dishes mama had made in preparation for her recovery.

We had run out of space in the two freezers in the basement, and so I had been rotating some items between the fridge and freezer. It just so happened that the Minute Steak was in the fridge that evening.

I got it heated up in a frying pan and when it was done, I cut the meat up into small bite sized pieces for mama. There was also more of the leftover steamed vegetables and rice on the side.
