Cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato served alongside French fries topped with ketchup

Wayback Burgers, Wake Forest, NC

My mother and I visited the Wayback Burgers restaurant located on Rogers Road in Wake Forest on July 3rd.

There is a local fireworks display every year at the nearby high school and the parking lot is often packed with spectators.

A close-up, eye-level shot of the exterior of a Wayback Burgers restaurant. The building is constructed of rough, reddish-brown brick with visible mortar lines. Above the entrance, a dark awning covers large, reflective glass windows. Three identical square windows with golden-tinted glass are positioned above the awning, spaced evenly apart. Directly above these windows, a prominent sign spells out "WAYBACK BURGERS" in illuminated, teal-colored block letters. Three black, gooseneck-style outdoor lights are mounted on the building's facade above the sign, casting a subtle downward light. The overall impression is one of a clean, modern fast-casual dining establishment.

This was my mother’s second time eating burgers in this small shopping area, but she didn’t recall if it was the same franchise as her last visit.

For myself, this was my first try. I enjoyed the meal.

It was a bit loud, but the shop was filled with tired children, and they can get understandably vocal and cranky when it nears nap time.

Parking was initially touch and go, but we got a spot across from the restaurant, with a view of the baseball field. After ordering our meal, I moved the car to a better spot after mama spotted another vehicle leaving.

We ordered the Classic and Carolina burgers with two fountain drinks and a single serving of French fries.

The ingredients were not listed on the menu board.

  • Carolina $8.99
  • Classic $9.99
  • Fountain Drink $2.89
  • French Fries $2.70

After our meal the manager stopped me and mentioned he saw my review and asked for further feedback and he also provided me with the paper menu shown below. It includes the ingredients in the burgers, but he said the prices were outdated.

The manager also mentioned there is a coupon in the app to get a free Classic burger with a $10 purchase. I normally would have checked for deals ahead of time, but spaced it out today

What I really liked was the French fries. They’re perfectly seasoned and not greasy. The little granules of salt clung to the fries and didn’t shake off when I bit into the fry.

We’ll definitely return at a future date and get that free burger deal.
